On January 12, 2010, Haiti suffered a magnitude-7 earthquake, destroying most of the country's buildings and killing nearly 250,000 people. The country was in deep poverty and disarray even before the disaster. Delivering aid was a logistical nightmare; six months later, almost nothing had changed.
